Prop custody

Before and after: an object appears in the wrong hands

A short demo showing how to resolve an important object that moves without explanation.

Example

Before, finding, after

The revised version is one possible author decision, not an automatic rewrite.

Before

Chapter 16: Ada locks the treaty in her desk. Chapter 17: Bram presents the treaty at council with no scene showing how he got it.

Finding

The treaty changes custody without a transfer, theft, duplicate, or explanation.

After

Chapter 17: Bram reveals the duplicate treaty Ada copied for him before the raid.

Why it works

What changed

The fix keeps the council reveal and explains why Bram can produce the document.

  • Track who has the object after each scene.
  • Decide whether the movement is transfer, theft, duplicate, or error.
  • Update reactions if the transfer should surprise other characters.
