Glossary term

Location continuity

Location continuity is the consistency of rooms, geography, entrances, exits, distances, travel paths, and object placement.

Definition

What location continuity means

Location continuity keeps scenes spatially understandable. It includes building layouts, travel routes, distances, room details, weather, landmarks, entrances, exits, and where objects or characters are positioned.

Why it matters

Confusing space can weaken action, mystery clues, blocking, and reader trust in the physical world.

Example

A room has one door during a tense escape scene, but a second exit appears later with no explanation.

Wise Wombat

Wise Wombat checks location and spatial continuity across the manuscript so authors can catch setting details that move or disappear.
